The 18th is International Picnic Day! The word ‘picnic’ comes from the French phrase pique-nique which originated in France in the 17th Century when guests started bringing their own food to create social dining events. It was only later that they became outdoor events. With everyone bringing their own food, organising a picnic doesn’t need to be nightmare. And you can use it as the perfect excuse to bake our Classic Victoria sponge cake. Throwback to my trip to Disneyland Paris in 2024. In 2024, Callum was lucky enough to go to France and to visit Disneyland Paris. This year, he’s going again. He’s looking forward to revisiting the rides "Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast" and Remy's Ratatouille Adventure and he’s also very excited to be going when all the Christmas events are happening! Callum is 26 tomorrow! Happy Birthday to Callum! Callum’s favourite birthday cake is the Chocolate Hedgehog cake. The chocolate cake is baked in a pudding basin, cut in two, from top to bottom and then sandwiched together with yummy chocolate icing. But the chocolate doesn’t stop there, the cake is then covered in chocolate icing, which also makes the nose shape. Finally, chocolate buttons are added for the spikes. Sounds difficult? Not at all, it’s straightforward to make and delicious to eat.
